“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” 2 Cor. 4:7
Another few months have passed very quickly indeed. Most people find that time is just marching on at breathtaking speed. Change is happening all around us in so many spheres of life. Conscious of the impact of change all around I am particularly grateful to know and experience the power and presence of the living God.
I have many blessings around me in the form of people including my family but ultimately God, my Father is the only one true constant in my life.
I am very aware that these past few months have been experienced very differently by our parishioners. For some it has been exciting, new and wonderful. For others it has been so very painful and sad. Others have found it to be one of the most xhausting and confusing times of their entire lives. Still others feel they are stronger and clearer in their purpose and direction.
All of these experiences and more make up the beautiful body of Christ. I am so blessed, blessed beyond measure, to belong to this extraordinary community of faith. I will be ordained 10 years this June and I feel even more committed and passionate about this beautiful body, the Church. Yes, there are still challenges and gaps, and yes there are still opportunities but I do feel that people are growing even more together.
Remember that all of us are growing older and I hope, wiser too. We, God’s family are built for purpose, yes we are effectively a jar of clay, a body that one day will be no more, but in this jar God tells us there is a treasure. We are precious to God, made in His image and likeness, blessed to be a blessing. Thank you for your love and care. We love you. XX
