Today has been a strange day. Work was very busy as it always is when preparing to go on holiday, but even so, it was busier than expected. My last day tomorrow will be hectic! After work I took the car to the MOT centre which I hate. Fortunately the car passed OK but I’m not so sure about me. For some reason I get very uptight when I take the car for an MOT, but I don’t really know why, as the worst that can happen is it will fail and need some work done. Just to add to the effect the rain was pouring out of the heavens as if it was in a real hurry to get to us. But then I spent the rest of the evening with Marlyn and some very dear friends of ours. I had a pile of things to do (like this wee note), but suddenly they were not as important as time spent with friends whom we had not seen for much too long. Sometimes we need to get our priorities right! It made me think about what is really important and what is not. Work matters, but it should not totally dominate my life. The car is useful, but not worth getting stressed out about. What is important is relationships, especially with good trusted friends. The most important relationship of all is with Jesus Christ. I am becoming more and more aware of the need to trust God and leave other less important things to sort themselves out. I know I need to continually put my trust in the one sure and totally dependable source – my creator and my Lord. I also know that I need to build my faith in God and to do this I know I should learn from others who have walked in faith and allowed God to guide them. So our next round of bible studies will look at the issue of faith, and how and why we should put our trust in him. So please join me as together we learn from scripture and each other on Monday nights in the Autumn. Until then, I hope to enjoy my holiday in the sun? well rested and ready to serve.
God bless
